Sacred Spaces

This is a photography project I just came across, and I was so enamored with it, I had to immediately post a few samples.  The project entitled Corpus Christi, by French photographer Fabrice Fouillet highlights, “the architectural aesthetic of many new places of worship and their hymn to minimalism, which has represented a genuine creative inspiration in modern religious architecture.”  This stunning piece truly opened my eyes to an entire sphere of religious art and architecture I had hitherto been completely unaware of.  And frankly, I feel it is nothing short of breath-taking… combining the grandiose spiritual vision of classical, renaissance, and baroque ideals with modern aesthetic sensibilities of abstraction and minimalism.  As a daily practitioner of meditation I found the images to be particularly effective visual allegories for that profound state of being and mind which we seek to encompass ourselves in.  It is truly inspiring… and gives a whole new meaning to the term, “sacred space.”  Enjoy… and of course feel free to click on the images below to find out more.
